Worcestershire Seconds went down by 68 runs in a Second Eleven Trophy clash with their Lancashire counterparts at RGS Worcester's Flag Meadow ground today despite a fine knock from Will Fraine.

Fraine, who is at Durham University, hit one six and 10 fours in making 75 off 54 balls after coming in at number seven.

It followed on from another fine innings of 87 not out in the Second Eleven Championship match against Yorkshire at Scarborough last month.

A strong Lancashire side, including six of the side who played in the NatWest T20 Blast match at New Road last month, totalled 319-6 in their 50 overs.

Then spinner Stephen Parry, who had taken 5-13 in the T20 Blast meeting between the sides at Old Trafford, and Arron Lilley did most of the early damage with the ball before Fraine's fine effort as Worcestershire were eventually bowled out for 251 in 45.2 overs.

Lancashire opted to bat and lost an early wicket to paceman Chris Russell but then Tom Smith and Luke Procter featured in the main stand of the innings.

They add 183 in 29 overs for the second wicket. Smith made 113 off 124 balls with five sixes and seven fours before he fell to Alex Hepburn with Pat Brown taking a fine diving catch at long on.

Hepburn also dismissed Procter for 101 off 104 deliveries with three sixes and four fours. He also holed out to long on, this time to Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

Russell finished with 2-58 and Hepburn 2-61.

Kohler-Cadmore was included in the Worcestershire line-up but after making nine he was unfortunately run out as a George Rhodes drive was deflected onto the stumps by bowler Jordan Clark.

Skipper George Rhodes and Tom Fell, amongst four Worcestershire players in Royal London One-Day Cup action against Warwickshire on Sunday, added 41 for the second wicket.

But the pair of them sucumbed to Parry – Rhodes bowled around his legs for 35 and Fell stumped for 45 after coming down the track.

Alexei Kervezee (2) was lbw to Parry after attempting a reverse sweep and Alex Hepburn (15) was bowled off an inside edge by Arron Lilley who also trapped Alex Milton (4) lbw.

Fraine and Josh Haynes (34) provided lower order resistance during a stand of 63 for the seventh wicket in nine overs before the latter was bowled by Luis Reece.

George Scrimshaw (24) then helped Fraine add 49 for the ninth wicket before the latter, who brought up his 50 off just 29 balls, was last out.
