Worcestershire Cricket Board Limited (WCBL) have already attracted 700 children from across the county to sign up for the 2019 ECB’s ‘All Stars Cricket’ initiative aimed at attracting 5-8 year-olds to the game for life.

WCBL are aiming for a total of 1,700 children to participate in the scheme this summer and are hoping to nurture further interest when holding a FREE two-day taster event at Webbs Garden Centre, Worcester Road, Wychbold next week.

Sessions are being held on Tuesday (April 16) and Wednesday (April 17).

The timings each day are: 11am – 2pm with sessions at 11am,12 noon, 1pm, 2pm) for 60 children (aged 5-8) over the day.

Anyone wanting to take part should sign up at: https://www.webbsdirect.co.uk/cricket-taster-event/ and the Vitality Blast Trophy – won by Worcestershire last summer – will be on display for those who want to have their picture taken.

The ECB scheme was launched two years ago and the response across Worcestershire has seen a massive growth from 483 participants in 2017 to 1,119 last summer.

With the feelgood factor of a home ICC World Cup and an Ashes series in 2019, WCBL are targeting even more youngsters to take part in the scheme.

Forty centres across the County where youngsters can participate have been set up and they should sign up at https://www.ecb.co.uk/play/all-stars

For just £40, children will receive eight weeks coaching at one of the centres plus a rucksack, personalised shirt, bat, ball, cap, a set of stumps if they are a returning member, and an activity pack embracing the ICC World Cup – all sent straight to their door.

The programme is suitable for all skill levels and also enables children to make friends in a safe and enjoyable environment with mums and dads encouraged to also take part.
