Gidman: Chance For Players To Put Themselves In “Shop Window” For First Team

Alex Gidman wants Worcestershire players in second team action during the remaining quartet of matches to “put themselves in the shop window” to challenge for a first team spot.

The Seconds ended their Championship programme in style with a nine wicket success over Derbyshire Seconds at Belper CC last week.

Now they bring down the curtain on the 2018 campaign with a series of three and four-day matches, starting with the clash against Warwickshire at Barnt Green from Monday to Thursday this coming week.

Gidman said: “Hopefully with the injuries clearing up, even though they are friendlies, we can continue the season and play some good cricket over these next four matches.

“What I want to achieve is to provide some headaches for Kevin.

“That’s what I want to do – and getting guys batting and bowling well enough so they put themselves in the shop window for the first team.

“That’s the ideal situation. We’ve got plenty of cricket left and hopefully we can achieve that.”
