Worcestershire Under-17s launched their ECB County Championship programme by scoring 298-9 on the opening day of the three-day encounter with Gloucestershire Under-17s at the King's School, Gloucester.
Seven batsmen scored between 24 and 47 after Under-17s skipper and opener Callum Lea had elected to bat.
Lea produced the most aggressive batting of the day in scoring 37 off 32 balls with eight fours out of an opening stand of 51 with Jujhar Johal.
Johal (39 off 90 balls with eight fours) added a further 58 for the second wicket with Adam Hussain (39 off 136 balls with one six and five fours).
George Hatfield and Kris Green figured in the other substantial partnership of the day after joining forces at 163-5.
The pair put on 77 in 29 overs with Green top-scoring with 47 off 95 balls with eight boundaries and Hatfield contributing a patient 33 off 102 deliveries with five fours.
Worcestershire will also play Devon, Somerset and Hampshire in the County Championship in a series of three-day games.
