Worcestershire Cricket (WC) took four sides to play against Under-11s, Under-13s, Under-15s and Under-18s from Bromsgrove School. In a ground-breaking day,
Emily Arlott (England Women Development Programme Under-19s) represented a boys Development of Excellence Under-15 X1.
Emily has been supported by Worcestershire Cricket with regular opportunities with the senior Development of Excellence and Worcestershire CCC academy fast bowling skill set programmes.
Worcestershire took on the four Bromsgrove School sides, exposing talented players to older stronger cricketers and it was a valuable experience for all those involved.
There were some outstanding performances in all four games and it was pleasing to see the cricket played by the WC youngest side against a group who were significantly bigger and stronger.
Special mention is deserved for to Nathan Jukes and Jack Home (eight years old) for 36 and 32 retired not out respectively.
The Under-13 group were fantastic in the way they approached and prepared for the day and all contributed and impressed with bat and ball.
The Under-15 game saw Emily take centre stage and all players from both sides deserve credit for making her welcome in what would of been a different experience for them all.
Aaron Tomson (Under-13) bowled his leg spin beautifully to return figures of 1 for 19 from eight overs.
He is linking up with Malvern College in September and the future for him is exciting.
The Under-18 game saw Zain Hassan perform with great maturity. As the youngest player involved at Under-14, he was at the wicket early and was struck on the head first ball by Alex Wilkinson.
Zain showed great maturity to come back from that setback and ended up scoring a very impressive 80 before being last man out.
It was a valuable day for the development of our future county cricketers learning the Worcestershire Way.
