Gwynne Helps Ombersley To Clinch T20 Clash With Worcs Ccc Via County Cup Win

Ombersley were the winners of the Worcestershire Cricket Board limited inaugral County Cup T20 Finals Day.

They defeated Bromsgrove by five wickets in the final at New Road this afternoon.

Ombersley's reward is to host a T20 game against Worcestershire CCC during the 2015 campaign.

The semi-finals were played on the adjacent King's School Ground with Ombersley defeating Barnards Green and Bromsgrove overcoming Stourbridge.

In the final Bromsgrove batted first and scored 161-5 off their 20 overs. Jayden Levitt (34) and Ashley Newdick (33) were leading Bromsgrove scorers with Liam Gwynne returning 3-30 for Ombersley.

Gwynne then top-scored with 48 in reply with Jason Smith hitting 47 as Ombersley won with four balls to spare.

The plate final was also held at New Road and Old Hill overcame Old Elizabethans by 39 runs.

Old Hill were all out for 166 in their 20 overs with Nitesh Patel (71) and Jimmy Howell (50) their main contributors.

Jon Miles (4-20) picked up a hat-trick in the final over.

In reply Old Elizabethans finished on 127-9, with Jamie Boyle (34) and Johann Smit (33) scoring the bulk of their runs.

Nigel Davenport returned 3-21 for Old Hill.
