Half Century For Rhodes As Barnards Green Turn Fortunes Around

George Rhodes hit a half century in a big turnaround in fortunes for Barnards Green in a Birmingham and District League Division One fixture.

The Worcestershire all-rounder had been part of the Barnards Green side bowled out for 44 and hammered by 348 runs by Tamworth the previous weekend along with County team-mate Josh Tongue.

But it was a different story this weekend as Barnards Green amassed 380-7 in their 50 overs against Attock CC.

Rhodes scored 61 off 60 balls with eight fours and then returned figures of 10-2-47-1 as Attock were restricted to 214-5 in 41 overs.

Tongue scored 14 and bowled six overs for 30 runs.

In the same division, Alexei Kervezee picked up four wickets for 51 runs in his 10 overs for Bromsgrove who scored 232 all out and then restricted Tamworth to 219-9.

Ollie Westbury and County academy player Dylan Pennington scored two and 17 respectively for Shrewsbury who totalled 234-7 in a Premier Division fixture with Kidderminster who were bowled out for 90 in 26.5 overs.

Alex Hepburn made 16 out of Berkswell's 205-6 with Brett D'Oliveira conceding 61 runs in his nine overs for Ombersley.

Ombersley were then bowled out for 141 with D'Oliveira ending seven not out and Academy duo Jack Haynes and Josh Dell dismissed for five and one respectively.

In Division Two, another academy player, Matt Davis, helped Old Elizabethans secure a tie against Sutton Coldfield.

Davis ended on 21 not out as OE's closed on 244-8 in reply to Sutton Coldfield's 244-8. Davis bowled six overs for 21 runs.
