HALION HITS HALF CENTURY AS ACADEMY LAUNCH SHREWSBURY FESTIVAL WITH VICTORY

Worcestershire Academy launched their Shrewsbury Cricket Festival programme with a 40 run victory over the Millfield Meyers X1.

Ollie Halion and Joe Miszkowski were the main contributors with the bat after the Academy had elected to bat.

They came together at 65-4 and figured in a stand of 81 before Miszkowski was dismissed one short of his half century after hitting seven fours in his 63 ball knock.

Halion went onto make 58 from 100 deliveries with four boundaries before he was ninth out at 167.

Josh Baker made a breezy 17 at the tail-end of the innings as the Academy were dismissed for 187 in their full 50 overs.

In reply, the bowlers quickly got to work and Rohan Hasketh (6-0-28-2) removed both openers.

Reeve Evitts (5-1-21-2) and Baker, who returned excellent figures of 10-1-21-2, kept the pressure on as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Rehan Edavaleth (6.4-1-22-3) and Freddie Fallows (6-0-21-2) worked their way through the lower order as Millfield were dismissed for 147 in 39.4 overs.
