Hastings Hoping To Help Install “winning Culture” At New Road

John Hastings is looking forward to playing his part in helping to develop a "winning culture" at New Road.

Worcestershire's 2017 overseas player has quickly fitted into the dressing room and is already a popular figure.

But Hastings is renowned for being a fierce and aggressive competitor once he crosses the boundary line and hopes to instill that trait into the squad.

The Australian all-rounder said: "There is a young group here and I'm really looking forward to working with some of the youngsters and building that winning culture.

"Will I bring my aggressive mentality into the dressing room? Absolutely. That's the way I've always played my cricket.

"I'm a very competitive type of person. I think that aggression just comes out because I want to win.

"If I can hopefully instill that a bit in some of the young guys, that will be great."

Hastings believes the current crop of players are capable of being a major force.

He said: "They've got a real good bunch here and if they get a bit of that hard edge into the dressing room, they can really do a lot of damage in the years to come.

"From what I've seen they are ready to take the next step and hopefully I can be a part of that."

Hastings is following a long line of Australians to have represented the County.

He said: "I know people like Andy Bichel, Tom Moody, Phil Hughes, Glenn McGrath and Steve Smith have played here.

"There are a lot of Australians that have rolled through Worcester and I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
