Haynes Aiming For Second Super-Fours Success With Midlands

Haynes Aiming For Second Super-Fours Success With Midlands

Josh Haynes will be hoping for a second dose of Super-Fours glory tomorrow when the Midlands kick off their programme by taking on the South West at the National Performance Centre, Loughborough (10.45am start).

Slow left armer Haynes was one of six Worcestershire players – included skipper Ben Twohig – who helped the Midlands to win the competition 12 months ago.

Four of those players in Twohig, Zen Maik, Josh Dell and Josh Tongue went on to be selected for the England Under-19s squad for the recent Tests and ODIs against Sri Lanka Under-19s.

Worcestershire have another representative in this year's squad in paceman Adam Finch who was called in as a replacement for Warwickshire's Liam Banks.

The tournament is in effect the Under-17s equivalent of the Bunburys and will offer the cream of the players in that age group the opportunity to show off their skills in front of watching England Development Programme coaches and selectors.

The Midlands take on the North on Wednesday in their second match in what is a re-run of the 2015 final.

On that occasion the Midlands came out on top by 62 runs and Twohig was voted man of the match.

After Thursday's rest-reserve day, the Midlands finish their group programme on Friday against London and the East.

The top two teams will then contest the final on Saturday.

The Midlands squad is:

Adam Finch (Worcestershire)

Josh Haynes (Worcestershire)

Ben Claydon (Northants)

Lyndon James (Notts)

Reicko Parker-Cole (Notts)

Harry Swindells (Leics)

Liam Patterson-White (Notts)

Henry Brookes (Warwicks)

Joseph Emanuel (Leics)

Robert Yates (Warwicks)

Tim Wyatt (Notts)

Anis Raza (Notts)

Harry Johnson (Warwicks)
