Hepburn Hits 74 As Seconds Suffer Innings And 70 Runs Reversal At Derby

Alex Hepburn top-scored for Worcestershire as they suffered an innings and 70 runs defeat to Derbyshire in a Second Eleven Championship encounter at Derby.

Worcestershire resumed on 132-2 in their secnd innings after being asked to follow on and Hepburn and skipper Joe Leach extended their third wicket partnership to 61.

But the last seven wickets went down for 23 runs as the home side wrapped up victory before lunch on the third and final day.

Hepburn was dismissed for 74 and his 182 ball knock contained nine fours.

The bowlers to do most of the damage were Tommy Taylor (5-24) and Mark Turner (3-39) as Derbyshire claimed 24 points and Worcestershire one.

Worcestershire will next be in action when they take on Gloucestershire in a three-day friendly starting on Monday at Dean Close School, Cheltenham.

A reminder that the Second Eleven Twenty20 match with Glamorgan on Friday, May 9 has been switched from New Road to Kidderminster's Chester Road ground.
