Alex Hepburn marked his first senior appearance of the season with the opening wicket for Worcestershire on day one of the tour match against Pakistan at New Road.
Hepburn, who has been skippering the Second X1 this week, had picked up six wickets in two Royal London One-Day Cup appearances last season versus Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
He came on first change today and accounted for Pakistan opener Sami Aslam.
By lunch the tourists had moved onto 72-1 from 32 overs with Shan Masood unbeaten on 40.
Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first.
The County rested the trio of vice-captain Joe Leach, keeper Ben Cox and all-rounder Brett D'Oliveira who has signed a new three year contract.
Joe Clarke, who had recovered from a slight side strain, took over behind the stumps.
Ed Barnard and Charlie Morris shared the new ball and both bowled tight probing spells to the Pakistan opening pair of Aslam and Masood.
Hepburn and Jack Shantry continued in the same vein and it was 14 overs before the first boundary via a lofted on drive from Aslam off the latter.
It was Hepburn who made the first breakthrough when Aslam (17) nicked a delivery to Tom Kohler-Cadmore at first slip.
Masood started to flourish with two lofted cover drives for four off spinner George Rhodesand he pulled Barnard to the ropes on his return to the attack.
