It was a case of back to school for Josh Tongue before he joined up this week with the England Lions for their training camp at Loughborough ahead of flying out to Australia next week.
The Worcestershire paceman is a former pupil of the King’s School, Worcester and he visited King’s Hawford Junior School for it’s recent Open Morning.
Josh also took along the Specsavers County Championship Division Two Trophy to show to pupils, parents and staff.
He attended the King’s senior school from 2009 and the represented the First Eleven at cricket from the age of 14.
During the morning, Josh coached some of the children in a training session and enjoyed a tour of the school.
He then gave some inspirational advice to three of King’s Hawford’s eight young cricketers who have recently been selected to play in various County age-group squads.
Jim Turner, Headteacher at King’s Hawford said; “Having Josh at the school was the icing on the cake to what was one of our busiest Open Mornings yet!
“It was inspiring for the children to be reminded that someone so young and talented was not only a King’s senior pupil but had also played at the King’s Hawford ground and is now to represent his country at the England Lions training camp in Australia.
“We are enormously proud that Josh is a former pupil and wish him all the best in what is already a fantastic career”.
Children and their families were invited to come along to the open event at King’s Hawford at Hawford Lock Lane to see for themselves the state of the art facilities and broad range of extra-curricular activities on offer at the school.
King’s Hawford, based around in a Georgian house standing in 23 acres of parkland and playing fields and has recently been awarded the prestigious “Learning Outside the Classroom Gold Mark”.
