Jack Haynes To Make Championship Debut For Seconds

Jack Haynes To Make Championship Debut For Seconds

Jack Haynes will make his Championship debut for Worcestershire Seconds in the three-day match with Leicestershire Seconds which gets underway today at RGS Worcester.

Haynes last week scored three hundreds in three days for Malvern College.

He is set to be given the opportunity now he has completed his exams to play for the Seconds during the next couple of months.

Fellow Academy player Zain Ul-Hassan will also retain his place after the wash-out of last week's Championship match with Durham at Burnopfield CC.

George Scrimshaw will continue his comeback from the back injury which ruled him out of the first half of the season.

He impressed in one of yesterday's two T20 matches with Leicestershire at New Road.

Academy coach Elliot Wilson said: "Zain Ul Hassan is going to stay with the Seconds this week having been up there in Durham but unfortunately he has not played much because of the weather.

"He is going to be joined by Jack Haynes which will be great on the back of some really exciting form after his exams in the last three or four weeks.

"He seems to have really picked up his game and again we are keen to expose him to that cricket and he is going to have a couple of months of second team cricket ahead of him.

"I think it will be a great couple of months for him and really stretch him and it will stretch him ahead of the Super Fours at the back end of August."
