Kervezee And Milton Shine With The Bat For Seconds At Kidderminster

Century-maker Alexei Kervezee and wicket-keeper Alex Milton sparkled with the bat for Worcestershire Seconds on the opening day of the three-day clash with Sussex Seconds at Kidderminster.

The duo figured in a super stand of 208 in 38 overs for the fourth wicket – and then a quickfire half century from Josh Tongue boosted the final total to 398-9 declared.

Kervezee made 111 from 139 balls with one six and 16 fours and Milton struck 87 from 125 deliveries with three sixes and nine fours.

Worcestershire elected to bat and Tom Fell and skipper George Rhodes put on 76 for the opening wicket.

Fell looked in good form, hitting six fours and a six in his 51 ball knock before he was trapped lbw by Jack Winslade, and Rhodes fell for 19 to Harry Finch.

Will Beer dismissed Alex Hepburn (19) and Connor Dudley (0) in successive deliveries to leave Worcestershire on 119-4.

But then Kervezee and Milton joined forces for their splendid partnership.

After they had finally been parted, there followed a collapse which saw five wickets go down for seven runs.

But Tongue and Charlie Morris added an unbroken 64 for the last wicket before the declaration. Tongue hit exactly 50 from 46 balls with one six and seven fours and Morris remained unbeaten on 14.

Worcestershire's total was boosted by 57 extras including 30 in no balls.

Sussex ended the day on 6-0 from three overs.
