Worcestershire batsman Alexei Kervezee wants to repay the faith shown in him by the coaches and players during last season's lean spell by recapturing his best form in 2014.
Kervezee has shown in the past examples of his potential via splendid 100s against Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
By his own admission he struggled in the four-day game in 2013 although he still managed some worthwhile contributions in the limited overs competitions.
But he has retained the support of Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes, his staff and the squad and wants to make amends this summer after some promising efforts during the warm-up programme.
Kervezee, who is in the side for the rain-hit opening LV County Championship game at Hampshire, said: "I am determined to have a good season. I've had a good winter. I'm really looking forward to the season starting and cracking on with things.
"I know last year was a bit of a tough time. The championship was a bit of a struggle. No particular reason as to why.
"It's the way things worked out. I haven't done anything differently and I've scored runs pre-season. Hopefully touchwood it all goes to plan this year for me.
"You can always tweak things here and there and try and adapt to situations. But at the end of the day I am a fairly attacking player. I just need to adapt my game to certain situations and bowling attacks."
Kervezee added: "The club were very supportive of me. I couldn't have asked anymore from them last year or this year, from people like Steve Rhodes and Damien D'Oliveira, Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali.
"They've all been there for me. They've always had an arm around my shoulder saying 'it's just around the corner, don't worry.'
"Hopefully I can repay the faith they have shown in me. I hope to set things straight and have a good year.
"I just think last year was one of those unfortunate things to be honest. I went through a lean patch, it happened at a young age, and it's about dealing with setbacks and coming back stronger."
