Kevin Says All Of Coaching Staff Have Played Part In Rapids Success

kevin sharp says all of worcestershire’s coaching staff should take their full share of credit for the rapids semi-final spot in the royal london one-day cup.

sharp is relishing his role as head coach at New Road after being appointed early in the new year.

but he is quick to praise alan richardson, alex gidman, ryan d’oliveira, elliot wilson and andy sutton for their respective roles ahead of today’s semi-final with kent spitfires.

richardson and gidman, in particular, have at times overseen some of the rapids one-day cup games as part of the flexible coaching set-up sharp was keen to implement when taking over.

he said: “i’ve loved it here at this club. this is my fifth season here now. it really does feel like a family.

“it is a quite an intimate club, a fantastic cricket ground to come and work at, one of the most beautiful in the game.

“i’m honoured to have this job. i’ve got some fantastic lads around me – alan and alex and ryan and elliot, andy sutton, all part of the coaching team.

“they are all taking responsibility, standing up and doing their stuff and i’m really chuffed with that.

“alan and alex have got huge responsibility for this white ball team and they have had lots of recent experiences in the game.

“alex has captained a gloucestershire who were excellent at one-day cricket.

“i wanted to make sure they were at the forefront of driving this team forward which they are doing brilliantly.”
