Kevin Sharp: Day Two Reaction Essex Versus Worcestershire

Kevin Sharp: Day Two Reaction Essex Versus Worcestershire

Worcestershire Head Coach Kevin Sharp gave his reaction at the end of day two of the Specsavers County Championship match with Essex at Chelmsford.

The County will resume tomorrow in their second innings on 140-4 with Joe Clarke unbeaten on 74.

Sharp, speaking to BBC Hereford-Worcester, said: “Joe batted beautifully and it was a great partnership between him and Alex Milton.
“They played the spin very well, a high class spin bowler in Harmer, and they used their feet very well and that has been the best part of the game for us.

“Joe, once he gets in, is a high class player. He is very capable of making big hundreds – as he has done.

“I’m hoping he can bat for two days now.

“How do I assess the performance in the field? This morning was very poor in the field to be honest. We dropped catches, which happens, but there was some poor ground fielding and some poor throwing.

“We discussed that at lunch-time. I think sometimes when you get on a bit of a role like that, you can tend to lack a bit of confidence as well and so you don’t do things as well.

“But we addressed that at lunch-time – and they were better after lunch.”
