Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored his maiden List A hundred but felt he should have seen Worcestershire Rapids across the finishing line in yesterday's Royal London One-Day Cup clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at New Road.
Kohler-Cadmore hit a superb 119 from 126 balls with one six and 11 fours – his fourth hundred in all competitions this summer.
But the former Malvern College pupil believes he got out at the wrong time after Ross Whiteley had already been dismissed in the same over – the 45th – from Graeme White when 59 were needed.
In the end the Rapids were dismissed for 296 from 49.5 overs in pursuit of a 320 target.
Kohler-Cadmore said: "It was nice to score a hundred but I should have seen us home for the win and so it makes you quite disappointed with the end result because it was up to me especially when Rossco (Whiteley) got out.
"Myself and Coxy (Ben Cox) should then have had a partnership at the end that saw us home so it makes you really disappointed.
"When you are the guy in, you've got to take responsibility and that's what I didn't do. I got out at the wrong time.
"Even if that over (from White) was a maiden, it is still 56 needed off five overs so we are still in the game whereas, when I get out, it kind of costs the team."
On a positive note, Kohler-Cadmore was pleased to be back amongst the runs.
He said: "I've had a couple of games where I've obviously not got the runs I wanted but that happens.
"Everyone's season goes up and down like that, even with the guys who are scoring a lot of runs, they will have a lean period for a coule of games.
"It was nice to get a score again but for me it's about winning the game and I'd much rather us have done that and myself get nought."
Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Fell, with his first List A half century since returning to action from his battle against cancer, added 125 in 18 overs.
He said: "It looks like Felly hasn't been away. He is batting so well.
"Myself and him always bat well together. I know his game, he knows my game so it is quite nice that we both know where we are looking to score runs and we are both quite laidback and we help each other through."
Fell was dismissed for 54 in the 33rd over with Worcestershire then 193-2 and Kohler-Cadmore felt the outcome of the overs immediately after his close friend's dismissal were pivotal to the result.
He said: "That is probably the period where we lost the game today, from when Felly got out to through to 40 overs.
"We let them bowl to us too much, myself included. Instead of letting the rate get up to 10 an over, which was always going to a tough ask, we should have got it down to sevens, sixes."
