Worcestershire batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore is hoping a maiden first class century will happen sooner rather than later after falling one run short of the milestone against Leicestershire at New Road.
Kohler-Cadmore reached 99 after hitting successive sixes off spinner Dan Redfern in the LV = County Championship match.
But the 19-year-old was then bowled by the same bowler after aiming a shot over mid-wicket after being contained on the total for seven deliveries before his dismissal.
His efforts, plus fine knocks from Alexei Kervezee (75) and Joe Leach (74) helped Worcestershire reach 416-8 before declaring and setting a 458 target.
Kohler-Cadmore said: "I was disappointed really when I was out but I was happy I got 99 to be honest.
"I'll take that everytime I walk out to bat. It was just one run at the end of the day.
"It would have been nice to get there, I didn't today, but hopefully I'll get there in the near future.
"With the dismissal, I completey missed it. At least I got my pads out of the way so that's a positive!
"It was nice to get that score under my belt after coming in after there was an early wicket today.
"It was nice the partnership I put on with Alexei Kervezee. I thought he batted brilliantly today and also Joe Leach at the end hit such a clean ball for us which was awesome.
"When Kervezee gets going, he scores so quickly and Joe played some fantastic shots. When you are going at a run a ball, it is easy at the other end to knock singles and go about your business quite easily."
Kohler-Cadmore tried all he could to score the extra run but was unable to pierce the field.
He said: "He (Redfern) didn't toss them up anyone which was a bit disappointing. They also brought the field in as well which makes it that little bit harder.
"I hit a couple of nice shots which I thought might get through, but they didn't, so I was disappointed with that. It is just how it goes.
"I tried not to worry and thought 'if you get it, you get it, if you don't, you don't.'
"Obviously for me to get a hundred would be massive but if you think about it too much, you are definitely going to get out and you are going to panic too much.
"I thought if I just stay relaxed if it's going to happen, it will happen. If not, it's not. Sadly today it didn't happen, but hopefully soon."
Charlie Morris and Leach both picked up a wicket before the close.
Kohler-Cadmore said: "You hope Saeed (Ajmal) can work his magic for us one more time and today it started reversing for the seamers.
"Hopefully they can get a couple in the morning and leave the late middle order and the tail to Saeed to come on and rip them through hopefully."
