Callum Lea hit a superb unbeaten double century and Mahaaz Ahmed a fine century as Worcestershire Under-17s dominated with the bat on day two of the ECB County Championship match with Hampshire Under-17s at Basingstoke.
Opener Lea made exactly 200 not out off 273 balls with five sixes and 24 fours as the Under-17s followed up last week's 455-8 against Devon by amassing 421-3 declared.
That earned them a first innings lead of 152 and then Billy Cox picked up an early wicket to add to his four yesterday as Hampshire reached 46-1 by the close.
Worcestershire resumed on 32-0 in reply to Hampshire's 269 and Lea and Jujhar Johal, who scored 159 against Devon, took their opening stand to 79 before the latter was dismissed for 39.
Lea was then joined by Ahmed and they featured in a partnership of 178 in 42 overs for the second wicket.
Ahmed completed an excellent ton and was on 102 from 131 deliveries with three sixes and 14 fours when he was stumped.
Xavier Clarke – 47 not out from 81 balls with four fours – then helped Lea add an unbroken 138 before the declaration.
Cox made a breakthrough in his second over with six on the board.
