Joe Leach this week became the 29th official first team captain of Worcestershire since they became a first class county and joined the County Championship in 1899.
The all-rounder, who will be 26 later this month, follows in the footsteps of some illustrious names who have led the Club during its proud history.
Harry Foster, the oldest of the seven Foster brothers who represented Worcestershire, was the first captain in 1899.
He was followed by Reginald 'Tip' Foster – the only man to captain England at both football and cricket.
Current New Road spin bowling coach Norman Gifford was skipper from 1971-1980, leading the County to the 1974 Championship crown.
Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes also had a spell in charge during 2004 in succession to Ben Smith.
Leach becomes the first genuine all-rounder to skipper Worcestershire since Tom Moody (1995-99) and it has been a role filled predominantly since Gifford's reign by batsmen.
