Leach Completes Hat-Trick Of Top Five Spots In Pca Mvp Championship Rankings

The 26-year-old’s immense contribution during the 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons is perfectly illustrated by his lofty position in the PCA ratings in the four-day game during that period.

Leach has ended the 2017 season in fifth position with 310 points at an average of 22.17 points per game.

That equalled his efforts in 2015 when he amassed 327 points at 23.34 and followed on from his fourth spot 12 months ago with 331 points at 22.03.

Leach’s efforts with the ball have naturally played a major role in those PCA MVP Championship standings with wicket hauls of 59, 65 and now 69 – a total of 193 – in those three seasons.

But contributions with the bat and, this season, in terms of his captaincy, have contributed to his points tally.

Opener Daryl Mitchell is the next best placed Worcestershire players in the 2017 Championship rankings with 252 points at 18.02 in 15th position.

He is just ahead of Ed Barnard in 18th spot – 237 at 16.94 – with Josh Tongue – 177 at 12.61 – and Joe Clarke – 162 at 11.57 – occupying 38th and 48th spots respectively.

Essex paceman James Porter was the 2017 winner in the Championship rankings – 367 at 28.24 – followed by Hampshire paceman Kyle Abbott – 361 at 25.78 – who was one of Worcestershire’s overseas players in 2016.
