Joe Leach insists team success and winning the fight to stay in Division One of the LV = County Championship is more important than personal milestones after he became the first Worcestershire bowler to take 50 wickets in the competition this summer.
Leach needed just 10 games to reach the half century mark and is currently just ahead of Jack Shantry (47) and Charlie Morris (42) as part of an effective pace trio.
He is also in the top two of the PCA Most Valuable Player ratings in the LV = CC for 2015 after also scoring nearly 500 runs.
Leach said: "It is the first time I've got to 50 wickets and I'm really pleased. Obviously I was aware of it and in the last three innings I've gone 'one wicket, one wicket, one wicket.'
"I've limped over the line a little bit considering how it was going before that but I'm really pleased.
"Is their friendy banter with Jack Shantry and Charlie Morris? We try and drive each other on. I think we are acutely aware of what the others are doing but we are all pleased for each other when someone does really well.
"It is nice to have feather in the cap and say 'I've done it first' but it is nothing more than that really. I hope the other two break through the milestone as well."
Leach added: "Have I any personal targets for rest of season? No to be honest. The most important thing is that we do what we can to stay up rather than set any personal targets.
"I don't really do that at the start of the year because I don't know what to expect and it seems to work reasonably well. I just play every game as hard as I can."
As for his high placing in the MVP rankings, Leach said: "That is a really nice thing. It's there on paper and a really pleasing thing to have next to your name to prove your performances are proving valuable to the team rather than just picking up the odd accolade.
"It's there on paper, that it's pretty consistent performances."
