Leach Top Of Mvp Rankings With Dolly Not Far Behind

Joe Leach is currently at the very top of the Professional Cricketers' Association Overall Most Valuable Player rankings for the 2016 campaign.

The Worcestershire all-rounder's lofty position is a reflection of Leach's fine contribution so far this season in all formats of the game.

The 25-year-old has taken 26 County Championship wickets at 26.88 runs apiece and 13 wickets at 12.69 each in the T20 Blast as well as crucial contributions with bat and ball in the One-Day Cup.

In addition Leach has captained the side in the absence of the injured Daryl Mitchell in the last two matches against Northamptonshire Steelbacks (T20 Blast) and Durham Jets (One-Day Cup).

He finished 10th in the overall rankings last summer after taking 59 Championship wickets.

Brett D'Oliveira's fine start to the campaign is also recognised and he lies in fourth position.

The all-rounder has starred in the opening batsman role in Championship cricket and is currently Worcestershire's leading run scorer with a double hundred, a century and a 99 already this season.

He has also impressed with batting, bowling and fielding in the Rapids rise to the top of the North Group in the T20 Blast.

Then yesterday D'Oliveira played a key role in the One-Day Cup win over Durham, returning 2-9 and scoring 20 not out in a match clinching partnership with Alexei Kervezee.

The PCA MVP is a cumulative points system that rewards players for every run scored, every wicket taken and every catch held – and, how well they do it.

A player achieves bonus points based in certain criteria. Points are awarded for batting, bowling, fielding, captaincy and winning.
