Magoffin Returns For Lancashire Championship Clash

steve magoffin returns to the worcestershire squad for tomorrow’s specsavers county championship encounter with lancashire at New Road.

the experienced seamer was signed primarily to play four-day cricket and did not feature in the rapids royal london one-day cup campaign.

magoffin has played in three of the opening five championship games, missing the matches against nottinghamshire and surrey with a slight hamstring strain.

he has kept up his match sharpness in preparation for his return by playing for the seconds in the championship matches with nottinghamshire at stourbridge and durham at kidderminster.

martin guptill will make his debut for worcestershire and is the latest new zealand opening batsman to play for the county after the likes of club legend glenn turner and then lou vincent (see separate story).

brett d’oliveira will captain the side in the absence of joe leach who is side-lined for the rest of the season (stress fracture of the back) and will miss his first championship game since not being selected for the opening two matches of the 2015 season.

head coach kevin sharp has named a 12 strong squad and worcestershire will select from:
