Malvern College To Defend Chesterton Cup At New Road

Malvern College To Defend Chesterton Cup At New Road

Malvern College will be defending the George Chesterton Cup when the annual T20 finals day takes place at New Road on Tuesday (May 30).

A 34 ball century from Worcestershire CCC Academy player Josh Haynes enabled them to defeat Wrekin College with six overs to spare in the 2016 final.

Now Malvern College will do battle with King's School, Worcestershire in the second semi-final which begins at 1pm.

The first semi-final, between Dean Close School, Cheltenham and RGS Worcester gets underway at 9.45am.

The final will then take place at 4.30pm.

George Chesterton founded the competition in 1991 for schools across the Midlands.

He played for Worcestershire CCC – for whom he had a spell as president between 1990 and 1993 – and the MCC and was also a master in charge of cricket at Malvern College.
