MAN OF THE MATCH PERFORMANCE FROM CALLUM IN BIG BASH

Callum Ferguson turned in a man of the match performance for Sydney Thunder as they defeated Perth Scorchers by three runs in a thrilling Big Bash encounter.

The Worcestershire batsman made a rapid 42 off 30 balls with one six and five fours as the Thunder totalled 142-6 in their 20 overs.

It followed his 47 in the previous game against Adelaide Strikers.

Ferguson shared in a second wicket partnership of 82 in 10.4 overs with opener Jos Buttler (55 off 54 balls).

The 34-year-old smote slow left armer Ashton Agar for six over deep mid wicket before being bowled by his next delivery after backing away and looking to punch through the covers.

Ferguson was second out at 92 in the 12th over.

The Thunder looked set to record a comfortable win after the Scorchers were reduced to 54-5 in the 12th over.

But an unbroken partnership of 85 between Ashton Turner (58) and William Bossito (23) meant the final outcome was a lot closer than had looked likely.

Ferguson and the Thunder are now up to second spot in the table after winning three of their opening five matches.
