Assistant coach Matt Mason is looking forward to his spell at the helm with Worcestershire CCC while Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes is on England Lions duty.
Mason, who is also the County's bowling coach, will oversee the squad when they report back for winter training today (Monday).
Rhodes is at the National Performance Centre this week as part of a four day training camp along with Joe Clarke and Ross Whiteley.
The former England wicket-keeper will then be away from New Road from late November until the middle of December as part of the coaching team with the Lions taking on Pakistan 'A' in five T20 matches in the UAE.
Rhodes will return to the UAE in January for the Lions five 50 over matches against the same opponents.
Mason said: "First if all I'm really pleased for Bumpy and it is a great opportunity for him and well deserved as well.
"But it also gives me the opportunity to take the lead for a little while, implement some of the ideas and philosophies that I have.
"In my role I know I can only go so far with what I have and that Bumpy calls the shots and he still does even though he is not here. I still have to run things past him.
"But it will be nice to have my own influence on the playing group.
"As much as Bumpy and I work very well together, I guess like everyone we all have our own individual ideas so it will be nice to put some of those to the lads and probably change things a little bit as well.
"The winter months can be quite repetitive and quite the same day in and day out which on the back of a long season where you are often doing that, it is nice to freshen things up a little bit."
Several members of the squad will be absent with Joe Clarke and Ross Whiteley also on Lions duty and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Alex Hepburn, George Rhodes, Brett D'Oliveira and Chris Russell of the full-time staff playing abroad this winter.
