Worcestershire bowling coach Matt Mason praised the efforts of the county's young attack against New Zealand on the second day of the tour match at New Road.
After a first day wash-out, New Zealand were restricted to 261-9 declared and Worcestershire replied with 65-1 from 24 overs.
Charlie Morris, Ross Whiteley and Moeen Ali picked up two wickets apiece and there was one for Chris Russell, Jack Shantry and youngster Ed Barnard.
Mason, who is also the county's assistant coach, said: "A great day's cricket and it was pleasing to see some of our youngsters go out there and perform really well against an international side.
"Ed Barnard bowled nicely, Charlie Morris did what he always does, runs in and hits a great line and length, and I was pleased to see Chris Russell and Ross Whiteley contribute with the ball as well because they haven't had a lot of opportunity this year.
"This was a great stage to show the members at Worcester what they can do.
"It's a strange game being allowed to use 14-15 players but it does give opportunities to younger guys to get some four-day bowling in and show us what they can do."
For Barnard it was a breakthrough at senior level after a successful time with England Under-19s, pre-season and in second team cricket.
Mason said: "Ed Barnard is going to be a fine young cricketer. People don't realise that he is a very fine batsman as well.
"He got a hundred in the Seconds last week and he gets his wickets as well.
"Along with Gareth Andrew, Joe Leach and Ross Whiteley, we have got some fine all-rounders at the club."
Richard Oliver hit a quickfire 30 and Moeen Ali 20 not out off 28 balls while skipper Daryl Mitchell again dug in as at Edgbaston to make a determined 15 not out off 72 balls as he strives to regain his very best form.
Mason said: "I thought they bowled nicely and swung the ball around and the left armer Ben Wheeler really impressed me.
"He bowled very well at Richard (Oliver) in particular and Mitch really dug in there and it was a really fighting knock from him.
"Hopefully tomorrow he can go on and post a big score. That did him the world of good tonight, I'm sure, because he has been a little bit down and he's not where he would like to be.
"But getting through tough periods like that will give him a huge amount of confidence. Hopefully there are good things tomorrow for him."
