Mitchell And Leach Top Rapids Cup Averages At Half-Way Stage

Daryl Mitchell and Joe Leach topped the Worcestershire Rapids batting and bowling averages respectively at the half-way stage of the Royal London One-Day Cup North Group campasgn.

Mitchell did not play in the opening two matches due to the availability of Moeen Ali but made a big impression on returning to the side.

Scores of 75 versus Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Wantage Road and 69 against Yorkshire Vikings at New Road meant Mitchell went into today's clash with Lancashire Lightning at Emirates Old Trafford averaging 72.00.

Not far behind him was all-rounder Ed Barnard with 71 runs from three knocks at an average of 71.00 and a top score of 42 not out.

Barnard had chipped in with vital late order runs in all competitions so far this season.

Moeen Ali – 104 runs at 52.00 – and Tom Kohler-Cadmore – 152 runs at 38.00 – were the other main contributors.

Leach had maintained his knack of picking up wickets with eight in 32 overs in the One-Day competition at an average of 26.38.

Next in line was Mitchell with figures of 18-0-99-3-33.00 followed by Jack Shantry – 30-0-178-5-35.60.
