Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell has praised the contribution of paceman Charlie Morris in helping to successfully plug the gap filled by the retirement of Alan Richardson in February.
Morris started the campaign in the Oxford University side and twice dismissed England one-day player Samit Patel in the three day clash with Nottinghamshire.
He was selected for the county's opening LV = County Championship match with Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl – and has remained part of the starting eleven in red ball cricket ever since.
Morris has to date taken 26 championship wickets including a career best 4-76 in last week's 234 run win over Leicestershire at Grace Road.
He has formed an effective pace trio, initially with Gareth Andrew and Jack Shantry, and latterly with Shantry and Joe Leach.
It led to Morris signing a new three and a half year deal with the county until the end of the 2017 season.
Mitchell said: "Richo's retirement left a place in the side to be filled. It is early days and Charlie is probably 400 wickets behind Richo at the moment.
"But he has got a similar sort of control and a similar sort of attitude.
"He is a model professional, just as Richo was, and works as hard, if not harder, than anyone else, bowls a lot of balls, is as fit as a fiddle, and bowls it on a dinner plate.
"For a 20-year-old to come into the side and bowl the way he has bowled, like a 30-year-old veteran, is fantastic. It has been a great effort by all the bowlers."
