Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell insists there is still plenty of work to do if the Rapids are to secure a quarter-final spot in the NatWest T20 Blast.
The Rapids currently head the North Group with five wins from their opening seven games and this evening (Friday) they take on local rivals Birmingham Bears at what will be a packed New Road (5.30pm start).
A run of five successive victories – their best ever sequence in the competition – has put the Rapids on course to reach the last eight for the fourth time.
But Mitchell stressed: "It's early days still, I guess. There is still a long way to go in the competition.
"We have won five of the seven games, we are exactly half-way through, and we've just got to go into every game trying to win it.
"The Warwickshire game is exactly the same, we just need to try and get those two points.
"We will probably need possibly eight wins to make sure you are in the top four and go through.
"But if you can get nine, 10, 11 wins, you get a home draw as well so there is something on every game you play."
Mitchell knows the significance of the Rapids clash with their rivals from up the M5 at Edgbaston.
A 5,000 plus crowd is expected for tomorrow evening's showdown.
Mitchell said: "It is always the big one, home and away, in the T20. You get good crowds in and we've had a reasonable amount of success against the Bears over the years so I'm looking forward to Friday night."
