Moeen And England Chase Quickfire Double In T20 Series

Moeen Ali helped England launch their three-match T20I Series against Pakistan on a winning note with a14 run success in Dubai today.

Now England will be looking to complete a quickfire double with the second match of the three game series taking place at the same venue today (Friday)

Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen was dismissed for a duck batting at number four as England made 160-5 in their 20 overs thanks to a rapid half century from Sam Billings.

But he then bowled four overs for 30 runs and picked up the wicket off Sohaib Maqsood who was stumped for 24 down the legside by Billings.

The 28-year-old came into the attack at 32-3 at the end of the six over powerplay and departed with Pakistan on 79-7.

Pakistan were eventually dismissed for 146 off the final ball of the match.

Moeen contribution for England this winter was reflected in the PCA Most Valuable Player Standings for 2015-2016 ahead of the three match T20I Series.

The Worcestershire all-rounder was ranked fourth in the England MVP ratings.

Only skipper Alastair Cook, paceman James Anderson and batsman Joe Root were ahead of 28-year-old Moeen.

They have amassed 85, 82 and 80 points respectively with Moeen next on 76.

The MVP charts relate to all formats of the game and Moeen – like Root – is a regular member of the Test, ODI and T20I sides.

Batting, bowling, fielding, captaincy, matches played and wins all form part of the MVP package with the combined number of points totted up.
