Moeen Bowls Another Excellent Spell But England Edged Out

Moeen Bowls Another Excellent Spell But England Edged Out

Moeen Ali bowled another tight and impressive spell for England in the second T20I with India but ended on the losing side in Nagpur.

The Worcestershire all-rounder delivered his most economical four over spell for England in T20I cricket since making his debut three years ago.

Moeen conceded just 20 runs and picked up the wicket of Yuvraj Singh who was lbw for four after an attempted sweep shot.

He did not give away a single boundary.

It followed on from Moeen's excellent figures of 2-21 from four overs in England's win in Kanpur on Thursday.

But India successfully defended their total of 144-8 and triumphed by five runs.

England captain Eoin Morgan repeated the formula of the first game with Moeen coming into the attack in the seventh over after the completion of the powerplay at 46-1.

Once again he bowled his complete quota of overs in one spell.

The 29-year-old gave away eight runs in his first over, just a single in his second, accounted for Yuvraj in his third which cost five runs and then India managed six singles in his fourth.

Moeen left the attack with India 93-3 off 13 overs with another job well done for his country with the ball.

When England replied with the bat, they needed eight from the final over by Indian paceman Jasprit Bumrah and Moeen came to the wicket after Joe Root (38) was given out lbw to the first delivery.

He managed a single off his first delivery to give Jos Buttler the strike but England's dangerman was bowled.

Moeen eventually got on strike with six needed from the final delivery but failed to make contact as India levelled the series.
