Moeen Ali flies out to Bangladesh today to start a hectic winter programme after reflecting on a successful summer with the bat and some economical performances with the ball for England against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The Worcestershire all-rounder has been resting up in a short window ahead of the tours to Bangladesh and India which will span the next five months.
Moeen achieved his highest Test score when scoring 155 not out against Sri Lanka at Durham and then in the four match series against Pakistan also made sizeable contributions.
He ended with 316 runs at an average of 63.20 with the aid of a century and two fifties.
On the bowling front, he picked up only two wickets at 90 runs apiece versus Sri Lanka but 11 wickets at 46.54 against Pakistan.
Moeen had a strike rate of 60 balls per wicket against Pakistan – a ratio only bettered by Chris Woakes – but also the highest economy rate of 4.65 runs per over.
The 29-year-old experienced a quiet ODI series with bat and ball against Sri Lanka but was the most economical bowler versus Pakistan of the England players who were selected for four or five matches.
He conceded only 4.67 runs per over and ended with three wickets at 53 runs apiece.
Batting-wise, Moeen had scores of 21 not out and 45 not out against Pakistan, playing in all four victories before being rested for the final game of the series.
Moeen was also able to play three early season Specsavers County Championship matches for Worcestershire and scored 273 runs at an average of 91.00.
He also featured in two NatWest T20 Blast matches and top-scored with 81 in his only appearance in the Royal London One-Day Cup away to Somerset in the quarter-finals.
Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhoes is flying out to Bangladesh on October 8 to take up his coaching role with England for the two match Test series.
He will then return on November 2 for when Worcestershire begin pre-season training in earnest.
