Moeen Gets All Clear To Play Under Lights With Pink Ball At Durham

Moeen Gets All Clear To Play Under Lights With Pink Ball At Durham

Moeen Ali has been made available by England for Worcestershire's Specsavers County Championship day-night match with Durham at the Emirates Riverside from June 26 to 29.

The all-rounder has been rested from the NatWest T20 international series against South Africa to gain experience of playing with the pink Duke balls that will be used for the Investec Test against West Indies at Edgbaston in August.

It means that Moeen is set to face his England team-mates Ben Stokes and Mark Wood.

He will be making his second Championship appearance of the season after scoring the only half century of the game in the low-scoring home win over Northamptonshire.

Moeen, who will be 30 next week, also appeared in five of the eight Royal London One-Day Cup group matches.

His fellow all-format players in England’s new Test captain Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow will both be available for Yorkshire’s Division One Championship fixture against Surrey at Headingley.

Jimmy Anderson is on course to make his comeback from a groin injury for Lancashire against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Alastair Cook, who has already played such a significant part in Essex’s successful return to the top tier, will face the new pink ball in their home game against champions Middlesex at The Cloudfm County Ground in Chelmsford.

Jake Ball can also rejoin Stuart Broad in the Nottinghamshire attack against promotion rivals Kent at Trent Bridge.
