Moeen Made Available By England For Blast Double Header

Moeen Ali has been made available by England for Worcestershire Rapids weekend double header in the Vitality Blast.

The Worcestershire all-rounder has received the green light to play in Friday evening’s home clash with Durham Jets (4.30pm start) and the away meeting against Notts Outlaws on Saturday (7pm start).

The 31-year-old has been released – as has Essex paceman Jamie Porter – after not being named in the starting X1 for the first Test with India at Edgbaston.

Moeen is the Rapids official captain for the Vitality Blast this season.

Rapids Head Coach Kevin Sharp said: “We were pleased that Mo was selected for the Test squad and disappointed for him that he was not chosen in the team.

“But, as always, we are delighted to have back available to play any games in any format for Worcestershire.

“I’m sure he will want to try and help us strengthen our position near the top of the table in the Blast.”

Moeen has so far played in two Blast games this summer – the first meeting with the Jets and last Friday’s clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks.
