Moeen Made Available By England For County Finale

Moeen Made Available By England For County Finale

Worcestershire's promotion hopes have received a boost with England all-rounder Moeen Ali being made available for the final two LV = County Championship matches of the campaign.

The 27-year-old will complete his international season today (Sunday) with the T20 clash against India at Edgbaston.

But Moeen will then be permitted to join up with his county for the home clash with Surrey starting on Tuesday and the away match with Essex beginning on September 23.

Moeen has played in six Championship matches this season because of his England commitments.

His last appearance for Worcestershire was in the Championship match with Glamorgan at New Road at the end of June.

Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said: "He's a key player in our dressing room and we've not seen much of him this year.

"That's great for him and we are all pleased that he has managed to forge an England career.

"But coming back and playing alongside us is a nice little tonic for the boys."

Moeen had stated all along his desire to play in the finale of the campaign for Worcestershire if England gave him the green light.

Surrey's Jason Roy and Essex's Ravi Bopara will be lining up against Worcestershire after also receiving clearance to play all remaining domestic cricket.

But England captain Alastair Cook has not been made available to play for Essex and so will miss the clash at Chelmsford with Worcestershire.
