Moeen Warms Up For Boxing Day Test With Six Wicket Burst

Moeen Ali warmed up for the Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Durban with a six wicket haul as England defeated South Africa 'A' by an innings and 91 runs in Pietermaritzburg.

The Worcestershire all-rounder finished with 6-77 in the second innings as Suth Africa 'A' were dismissed for 187 in 42.5 overs.

Moeen's victims included Quinton de Kock who top-scored with 53 before he was trapped lbw by the 28-year-old.

With their being a drought in the Durban area, spin may play a major role and Graeme Swan picked up nine wickets in the corressponding Test between South Africa and England in 2009-2010.

Moeen's first breakthrough accounted for Reeza Hendricks who played down the wrong line and was bowled for 19.

South Africa 'A' reached 102-3 but at that stage Moeen dismissed De Kock lbw -a delivery that straightened as he tried to play the ball through the leg side – and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Rilee Rossouw (32) failed to make contact with an attempted pull and was lbw and the same fate befell Chris Morris (5), who missed an arm ball, as Moen wrapped up the innings.

Keeshav Maharaj (31) failed to make contact with his sweep shot and was bowled around his legs and the game ended when Dane Paterson (12) was caught by Alex Hales off Moeen.
