Moeen’S Wicket-Laced Return To Test Cricket Helps England Triumph

Moeen Ali has now taken 26 wickets in just four Tests as he helped England wrap up a series win over Sri Lanka in Kandy.

The Worcestershire all-rounder has continued the superb form he displayed at County level – including leading the Rapids to Vitality Blast glory – since regaining his spot in the Test side for the final two games of the domestic summer versus India.

Moeen picked up two of the final three wickets to fall today as Sri Lanka, who resumed on 226-7, were dismissed for 243 to leave England victorious by 57 runs.

The 31-year-old ended with figures of 19-2-72-4 and match figures of 44-3-157-6 to add to his eight wickets in the first Test win in Galle.

With Jack Leach taking five wickets, England won their first away series since defeating South Africa three years ago.

Moeen helped wrap up victory with two wickets in three balls.

Niroshan Dickwella (35) pushed forward outside the off stump and edged through to Ben Stokes at slip.

Two balls later Sri Lankan skipper Suranga Lakmal (0) was bowled in between bat and pad.

Moeen now has 159 Test wickets and will be looking to try and help England achieve a clean sweep in the final match in Colombo.
