MORE WEATHER FRUSTRATION FOR COUNTY SECONDS AT HALESOWEN

MORE WEATHER FRUSTRATION FOR COUNTY SECONDS AT HALESOWEN

Worcestershire Seconds suffered more weather frustration today.

The opening day of the Championship match with Derbyshire at Halesowen was called off without a ball being bowled.

After taking an early lunch, the two umpires made a pitch inspection and decided no play was possible at Somers Park.

The recent heavy rain had taken its toll but an improved forecast has given hope that play can get underway tomorrow in the three-day fixture.

The Seconds have been forced to kick their heels for large slices of time in recent weeks.

Two days of the Championship matches with Warwickshire at Barnt Green and Northamptonshire at Northampton were washed out.

The Trophy encounter with Northants at Finedon suffered the same fate and the four-day friendly with Gloucestershire at Clifton College was abandoned on the first day because of a dangerous pitch.
