Charlie Morris’s flying start to the season means he is currently the joint leading wicket-taker in Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship.

The Worcestershire paceman has collected 15 scalps from the opening two games including hauls of 7-45 versus Leicestershire – a career best performance – and 6-53 against Durham.

He is level with Durham’s Chris Rushworth who has played a game more.

Worcestershire First Team Coach Alex Gidman said: “He has been fantastic, almost like a new bowler, a new member of the squad in the sense of being available and bowling as well as he has done.

“One thing we know about Charlie is that his work ethic, attitude and professionalism is never in doubt.

“He’s a wonderful professional and a real leader in that sense and we all know what ability he has got with the ball.

“We know he had to iron a few things out, he’s gone and done that and those days are well gone and it’s all about looking forward for Charlie now and he’s an integral part of our first team group.”

Morris’s team-mate Josh Tongue is also in the top five of the Division Two wicket-takers with 12 in two matches including 5-37 during Durham’s second innings.
