All-rounder Ross Whiteley has set his sights on trying to regain his spot in Worcestershire's LV = County Championship side.
Whiteley demonstrated his awesome hitting power with nine sixes for the Rapids in Friday night's win over Derbyshire Falcons at New Road in the NatWest T20 Blast.
He had also been the match-winner with some late hitting in the home win over Durham Jets.
Whiteley continued in the same vein with 52 off just 60 balls in the Royal London One-Day Cup win over Northamptonshire at Milton Keynes yesterday (Tuesday).
By his own admission Whiteley has struggled to make the same sort of impact in Championship cricket this season and was left out after playing in the opening nine games.
But he has made runs and taken wickets for the Second Eleven including a century against Yorkshire in the Second Eleven Trophy at Stamford Bridge.
Whiteley, who is in the first year of a three year contract, said: "I was pretty disappointed with my Championship form.
"It was the right thing for me to go and play in the second team, score some runs and get that confidence and have a bowl.
"It's done me good, I scored a one-day 100 and I too that confidence into the T20. Thankfully it paid off the other night (against Derbyshire)."
Whiteley knows it will be difficult to regain his spot in the Championship side after a run of four straight wins but is determined to be ready if he gets the call from Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes.
He said: ""The challenge is to get back into the Championship side. Definitely, you always want to play first class cricket.
"I was disappointed to be dropped but I knew it was coming.
"The boys are doing really well at the minute and I just hope we get promotion, whether I'm in the side or not.
"I hope they keep winning but it only takes an injury for it to need someone to step up. l'll be fighting for that place with the ball and the bat. I'll just be waiting my turn."
