Natwest T20 Blast Hero Oliver Keen To Make Impression In All Formats Of The Game

Natwest T20 Blast Hero Oliver Keen To Make Impression In All Formats Of The Game

Worcestershire NatWest T20 Blast match-winner Richard Oliver wants to make his mark in all forms of cricket – and not just the short format of the game.

Oliver is currently on trial at New Road and scored 77 in the Rapids five wicket win over T20 holders Northamptonshire Steelbacks at New Road.

But the Shropshire captain wants to show what he is capable of in red ball cricket in addition to his big-hitting in the limited overs forms of the game.

Oliver, who is looking to earn a contract with the county, said: "I want to be playing all forms of the game. I want to work at my game in all forms.

"Obviously white ball cricket is a strength of mine – but I really want to work hard on my red ball stuff.

"I play against the new ball for Shropshire and there is no reason why I can't work on that and turn myself into a decent first class cricketer at all levels.

"That's the goal. That's what I'm here for. I'm not just here for Twenty20 albeit it is my favourite at the moment.

"I always love playing T20. I feel I can express myself. Although people sometimes can get caught up in the pace of it, it actually relaxes me.

"The first six overs are Happy Days when the fielders are up. it gets hard when the fielders go back but I love it.

"If I get a few runs in red ball cricket, that might be my favourite, you never know. But I'm just enjoying being a part of things with Worcestershire."

Oliver is operating as 12th man for Worcestershire during their LV = County Championship clash with Surrey at the Kia Oval.
