Nile Bids For Mascot Race Glory At Bears V Rapids T20 Derby

Nile Bids For Mascot Race Glory At Bears V Rapids T20 Derby

Rapids supporters have the chance to see our own Nile the Crocodile run for the pride of the West Midlands on Friday 11 July, when he takes part in the Cure Leukaemia Mascot Race at Edgbaston Stadium.

During the interval of Birmingham Bears v Worcestershire Rapids in the NatWest T20 Blast, Nile will race on the outfield against Edgbaston’s resident Hugh and Carmen Bear of Edgbaston, Aston Villa’s Hercules and Bella, Birmingham City’s Beau Brummie, Coventry City’s Sky Blue Sam, Walsall’s Swifty, and Wolves’ Wolfie and Wendy.

Last year’s race was a close-fought competition with Carmen Bear narrowly beating Wolfie to the line in in a photo finish. Following popular demand, this year’s race has been extended and renamed in honour of the Bears’ Lead Charity Partner, Cure Leukaemia.

Gates open for Birmingham Bears v Worcestershire Rapids at 4.30pm on Friday, with the match starting at 6.30pm, and the interval and mascot race scheduled for 7.45pm.  Rapids’ fans can save £7 on tickets by purchasing in advance at £15 for Adults (£22 on the gate) whilst Under 16s are £5 at all times.

To purchase tickets to watch the Birmingham Bears in the NatWest T20 Blast, visit www.edgbaston.com/tickets or call the Ticket Hotline on 0844 847 1902.
