Worcestershire’s Specsavers County Championship match with Middlesex at Blackfinch New Road was held up by the weather on the third day.

Steady rain fell throughout the morning and meant no play was possible before lunch which was brought forward to 12.40.

Drizzle continued to fall during the afternoon and the umpires made a 3.15pm inspection and tea was brought forward to 3.30pm.

The weather improved sufficiently for the umpires to decide play could begin at 4.45pm with 28 overs to be bowled.

Middlesex closed on 195-2 in their second innings yesterday evening – an overall lead of 260.
