Noon Inspection On Final Day At New Road

Noon Inspection On Final Day At New Road

There will be a 12 noon inspection on the final day of Worcestershire's Specsavers County Championship clash with Kent at New Road.

No play has been possible on the first three days of the opening fixture of the 2016 campaign.

Umpires Richard Illingworth and Ian Gould carried out a thorough inspection of the outfield this morning.

But it is clear that conditions are still very wet after the deluges of rain over the previous few days.

Ironically, the final day of the match was greeted with warm sunshine.

Games between Worcestershire and Kent have a history of being severely affected by the elements.

In 2007 the New Road fixture was washed out after the summer flooding and the return game at Canterbury saw no play until the final day.

Then two years ago the match at Tunbridge Wells also had little play after the first day.
