Geelong City skipper Richard Oliver is confident his side "can put on a show" when they face Murgheboluc today (Tuesday) to decide who will reach the semi-finals of the Geelong Cricket Association T20 competition.
It will be a tough task for Oliver's side as they will be confronting the current T20 champions but he has faith in his players.
The battle to reach the last four could not be tighter with EIGHT teams tied on 12 points in third spot including Worcestershire opener Oliver's team going into the final round of group games.
Grovedale and Murgheboluc lead the way on 18 points.
Oliver said: "It is a straight shootout for a berth at finals day between the Sharks (Geelong) and Murgheboluc tonight.
"They are the reigning t20 champions and will be hard to beat.
"But we have hit some form in this competition and I'm confident we can put on a show tonight to get us into finals day."
Geelong lost their opening two games but two wins on the trot, including last week's hammering of St. Joseph's has kept their hopes alive.
Oliver hit an unbeaten half century and Steve Anastasiu cracked 60 off 26 balls as Geelong reached their modest 121 target in 12 overs.
Oliver said: "We won on the toss and bowled first on a good looking wicket with very short straight boundaries and did really well to restrict them to 120-5.
"We went in at the half-way stage pretty confident, and rightly so, and it took us only 12 overs to knock off the runs thanks to another good opening partnership of 86 between myself and 'Scuba' Steve Anastasiu who peppered the short straight boundaries.
"We lost Steve and 'Dozer' Ridout with victory on the horizon but the game was never in doubt after the early onslaught."
Oliver, who doubles up as groundsman for Geelong, is looking forward to a Christmas break.
He said: "My pitches are copping some stick with the amount of cricket being played, which is keeping me busy, along with my coaching and my own training, so I am hanging out for a few days break over Christmas!"
