Opener Richard Oliver will be turning his attention to the 2015 campaign with Worcestershire this week after a successful winter skippering Geelong City CC.
Oliver has led Geelong to the verge of the Geelong Cricket Association finals series and believes his club have made "massive strides" forward during the last five months.
But now the former Shropshire skipper is heading to Abu Dhabi today to join up with his county colleagues for the pre-season tour.
He is looking to build on last season when he was taken on trial at New Road, impressed in NatWest T20 Blast cricket, earned a 15 month contract in June, and averaged nearly 40 in the final seven LV = County Championship matches of the campaign.
Oliver, who is also head groundsman at Geelong, said: "Time has flown by far too quickly this winter I feel like I've hardly had time to draw breath.
"It's been a whirlwind winter but I've fitted plenty in and wouldn't swap it for anything.
"We've made massive strides as a club, both on and off the field, both junior and senior sections.
"So I've been very proud to be a part of it and I hope we continue to gain momentum heading into the finals series.
"I'd love to come back to Geelong should I get the chance.
"It's my home away from home and it challenges me everyday which can only enhance me as a person and as a cricketer.
"Now I'm looking forward to catching up this week with all the Worcestershire guys in Abu Dhabi."
Oliver's stint with Geelong certainly ended in dramatic fashion with 26 wickets falling on the first day of the clash with visiting Murgheboluc.
He said: "We snatched the first innings points as we made 67 all out in pursuit of Murgheboluc's 57 all out and they were 84-6 in their second innings.
"I only made one as I was caught at second slip, but at least I wasn't stuck watching from the pavilion all day following my dismissal.
"It was an entertaining day's cricket because of the softness of the pitch."
